4 “Real Relationship” Stars

Dude, Mia Sosa writes the most realistic romances. I can’t even explain it, but when I’m reading her stories I always feel like that could be my love story, or something that happened with a friend or someone I know.

This is probably because her characters are normal people… yeah, sure, the CEO aspect of the series makes it look like it’s this out-of-this-world story, but it isn’t. These aren’t extremely rich men finding a poor, young woman and giving them a Cinderella romance. These CEOs are hard-working man with a normal businesses.

This book’s love interest, for example, is Daniel, a man who owns an architectural firm with three of his friends from graduate school. So, yeah, he has some money, but he’s not Christian Grey (thankfully!).

And the MCs are also super relatable because, if you’re in your late twenties or thirties, you can see yourself as them. You can see your friend or someone you went to school with in those women. I know some Mimis. She even reminds me of one of my closest friends. So, yeah, it was super easy to like her.

If you know this series, then you met this book’s leading characters on the first book. Mimi and Daniel are a big part of Gracie and Ethan’ (from Unbuttoning the CEO) lives. I didn’t read the first book, but had the pleasure of reading the second, and Mimi was part of it, too. I had already liked her bubbly personality and her take-no-shit attitude. I didn’t remember Daniel, but I immediately fell for him. I have a soft spot for strong, sexy men with an alpha side, and while Daniel wasn’t the biggest alpha out there, he showed little hints and there.

I loved everything about Mimi and Daniel’s relationship. How they resisted each other at first. How Mimi had her reasons to not want to get involved with him. How he saw through her and worked hard on convincing him to give her a chance, all while respecting her boundaries and not coming across as pushy. The chemistry between those two was AMAZING. I have no idea how Mimi resisted him that long. I was ready to surrender ten pages in.

There were some similarities with the last book when it came to the reason Mimi and Daniel had problems with their relationship. Mimi’s reservations reminded me of Karen’s from One Night with the CEO. They both were too worried about their careers and how a relationship would influence it, but there were different enough elements to keep the story fresh. And since I really like how this author builds conflict on situations that feel real and possible to happen with anyone, I approve of reusing this “method”.

Fans of the series will also appreciate getting to see what happens to Gracie & Ethan and Karen & Mark. Again, especially when it comes to Karen & Mark, it was refreshing to see that they were having some problems, but dealing with it the best way they can because they loved each other. It’s so funny how sometimes we follow a series and when the old characters show up all we see is perfection. Like, dude, who has a perfect life? We all have problem. Relationships are hard. The problems don’t end after you say “I love you” for the first time or after you get married or move in together. So, yeah, I’m clapping because Mia Sosa had the guts to show that.

Getting Dirty with the CEO was a fantastic addition to this series. I loved every aspect of it, and Mimi and Daniel have a special place in my heart.
